Highbough leaves the mess hall and goes back into the small courtyard, where
Andaros is loitering.
The gatehouse is a simple affair, with two portcullis gates -- the front gate (by which most of the company entered the place) is raised, and the rear gate is lowered. There are no obvious mechanisms for raising or lowering these outside -- they must be somewhere within.
There are only two entrances into the buildings from the courtyard -- one leading into the dormitories, the other into the mess hall (from where
Highbough has just come).
There is a ruined cart surrounded by a junk pile in the courtyard, near the mess-hall door.
There are stairs leading up to the rooftops (and from there the dubious catwalks between them) in three of the four corners of the gatehouse. The forth instead sports a chimney stack from the kitchen, which is presently releasing a modest little wisp of smoke which is quickly dispersed whenever the cool wind gusts.
