His hands are bound behind his back and the pole he is tied to. If he could just loosen the bonds somewhat he might be able to wriggle free... (dexterity 13, 1d6=3(-2)), but alas his captors did their work too well. He cannot loosen the ropes even a little!

"As for the Dwarf," Mads says calmly as he puts his open hand on Taines' head in a condescending manner, "Our provisions are running low..." He pats Taines obnoxiously and smiles. "But the matter of our prisoners comes first."
