Having stayed quiet for most the ordeal, Flewellen feels a bit uneasy leaving his former captors alive--especially after they have seen his face--but the stress is nothing compared to the idea of entering a city with head marked and wanted by his former master. Nonetheless, Flewellen prepares to march on with the rest of his companions.

OOC: If we haven't already done this...

"We need to quickly search the bodies and surrounds down at the road before we go." Olaf says, "They hobgoblin captain may have had treasure, letters or a map on him. There might also be useful goods at their encampment down there."

OOC: We marched across the moors to get here and it took us a full day (half day, over night, and half day). So can we make it back to Ket in one full day's march? If we follow the road back to Ket will it shorten the time it takes to get there?

Ringmail is fine for thieves, it is still light armour.

Perhaps. You took the "short cut" hiking overland as crow flies to the ruin. The road loops a lazy circle around the heath lands, so is almost certainly a longer route, but would be much easier going.

The two Hobgoblins' eyes boggle in their bobbing heads when Anwyn and Dieter dig out the two sacks of copper coins for it is scarcely possible to conceal the nature of their contents. It is plain that the greedy little creatures imagine the bloated sacks to be full of silver and gold!

Then, everyone shoulders his own share of the burden, and the party leaves the two eager Hobgoblins "in charge" of the ruin, and sets out into the early morning chill to march back down to the remains of the blockade and yesterday's battle...

The blockade is but a ten minute march down the frosty hill slope, but despite the wind and rain having ceased before dawn, the morning air is sharp and all feel the chill on your hands and faces.

Even before you reach the site of yesterday's battle you can see the carrion birds at work. Half a dozen large, black ravens and twice as many smaller birds are picking over the hoary bodies of the fallen, and scatter only reluctantly as you trudge back into the muddy, broken up campsite.

"That's a sober sight," grumbles Victor, and spits with distaste.

In all there are seven horridly bloated and frozen Hobgoblin corpses laying in awkward positions of rigor in the mud and frost. The heavy, decapitated body of Bolgog lies central among them, but his ugly head seems to be missing. Then you spot the cold muddy thing, far too displaced from the body for your liking.

Then you notice that many of the frosty limbs are bent at strange angles, and the pale bodies do not lie exactly flat to the ground. It is becoming clear that none of these bodies lie exactly where they fell yesterday. They must have been turned over during the night...

Ulric intended the last thought as a joke, but he becomes uneasy as he approaches the bodies. He starts to search the surrounding area of the goblin works looking for loose weapons and items to determine if the battlefield had indeed been looted already before touching any of the bodies.
