Ulric quickly drags the prostrate Dieter out of harm's way, but by the time he reaches the ground floor and is laid out to receive Rodrick's ministrations he is faring no better than poor Olaf (saving throw; 1d20=14).
Meanwhile, Anwyn leaps up the stair with an arrow ready on her bow string, and with her sharp Elvish sight she spies the craven monster clinging in the far corner of ceiling where it is protected by the thickest knot of webs. The stench of its singed carapace is stifling, but is not enough to deter the eagle-eyed archer. Anwyn looses a single arrow which flies flat and true (1d20=20!) and penetrates the monster's chitinous skull, and dissappears entirely into its hideous body inflicting (2dd=6,2) a grievous 6 hit points.
The monster utters not a single sound but simply drops from its nest to land with a calamitous thud upon the dusty boards and does not move again.
As this goes on Rodrick has begun to intone a long, sonorous prayer in the Archaic tongue as he methodically applies drops of Holy Water to Dieter's paralysed lips and to his near-mortal wound. The ritual goes on and on and shows no sign of ending quickly...
Olaf has 2 of 6 hit points remaining, and is paralysed.
Dieter has 0 of 7 hit points remaining, and is paralysed.
The Supplication of Medicant Requite takes a full turn to administer, during which time the other party members have an opportunity to act...
