Ulric collects the coins, ring, choker, and letter opener and stores them in his backpack. He briefly inspects the ring to see if it has any runes or similar writing.

Meanwhile, down below, Olaf and Dieter are very gradually regaining the use of their leaden limbs and are able to choke out a whisper of speech with an effort. Perhaps, given time, they will recover more fully...
