Let's form up & open the south door.

Franklin falls in line.

Catweazle can't help himself and gives the glass sphere a little tap as he goes past. Is it really glass? Or perhaps a clever illusion?

It rings and feels like glass. The contents are not really disturbed.

It opens onto a ziggurat-shaped room, 70' wide at the base, centered on the door. Every 20 feet, the room shrinks by 10' each side, until it is 30' wide, making the room a total of 60' deep. On the west wall, north-most portion, is a door. Placed around the edges of the room, with one in the center, are a total of nine white marble statues of maidens with tridents and togas

No other exits in evidence other than the door to the west?

Took a stab at the map.

I am truly astonished. :D

Wiglaff, though he doesn't expect them to react, is very polite to the statues & bows to them upon entering the room.

After visual inspection of floor/ceiling, he'll take a turn about the perimeter, looking behind the statues, visually checking statues for moving parts, & the walls for hidden doors.

Aldbane assists examining the statues, in particular looking for marks on the floor that might show a statue had been moved.

Catweazle examines each statue in an anti-clockwise order, starting from the door by which the party entered, trying to see if there are any moveable bits (heads which can be turned, buttons or eyeballs which can be depressed, etc.).
