Once safely up the stairs, Aldbane turns to Franklin. "I think we are safe, from whatever that was. That looks like quite a nasty wound, let me help," he says, gently touching Franklin with the staff of healing.

"Welp, now we know where not to go!" Maloof wheezes while regaining his breath. "Shall we try the door just past the altar room?"

Wiglaff takes one last look back down the stairs as if he fears what might be lurking down there, then nods in response to Maloof.

"Yes, let's try it."

"Thank you, Aldbane. I feel much better," says Franklin. He agrees with Maloof's plan.

After checking and listening, you open onto a really long room. It is 30' across, with a door opposite from where you entered. The room extends south another 10 feet, and stretches north into the distance. Every 10' square of wall has a curtained window.

Vesh is agitated and wonders what that was and is glad those at the front escaped alive. He & his henchmen are keeping an extra vigilant eye towards the door where the creature was in case he tries to follow us.

Hopefully understanding the room description correctly:

Presumably there is a curtained window just to the left (north) of the door. Wiglaff will continue to stand in the door way through which the party is entering (not yet moving into the room, or in front of the window) and will try to lift the curtain gently away from the window with battle-axe, so that he can see what's behind it.

Correct. There are many of these curtained windows in the room. When he peers at the one closest, as he lifts the curtain, all he sees behind the curtain is wall
