They do not have the stones on them. You remember seeing some chests in the room upstairs - maybe that is where they stash their tolls?

What is the layout of this room? exits?
Because the room is sort of complicated, I will paste a picture

The statue in the north is of a man with goat legs, a large phallus, a bull's head, and a candle sticking out of the top of his head. The two columns in the south are of naked women with wings. There is no other furnishing in the room.

Ebon Hearted Soul wrote:Vesh chooses to use his travelling cloak to smother the flames even though he started them, unnecessary suffering is still beyond the pale for him. While kneeling beside the warrior; with his right hand on his dagger, Vesh glowers at the once burning warrior his scarred face giving him a baleful visage and tells him,"Just give me cause and I'll slide my dagger into your throat. Don't let my mercy be mistaken as weakness. Do you understand? If not I'll end you now.

The good-hearted Vesh smothers the flames, but it is too late - the man has died

"Well done, friends!" says the elf-warrior when the battle is done.

Once the fires have burned down, Wiglaff strides up to the lone enemy and fixes him with a steely glare.

"I find it doubtful you would have spared us had our places been reversed, but we'll let you live in exchange for your guidance.

"Are there other members of your band?

"Where do you keep your spoils?"
"You have killed us all" he says. "I am the last one left. Do you need a hired sword? I will work for you for free this expedition, and then if I return in your company, the wizard will let me go free. Here take the money I have earned"

He shows you his pouch of 30 gold pieces. Each of the other four have 30 gold also

"Very good," admits Wiglaff as the gold is handed over, "but you must work harder to earn our trust. What is in the chests upstairs?"

"I agree we should search the chests upstairs before we move on," agrees Franklin. He waits to hear the ruffian's response to Wiglaff's question.

"The bulk of our toll money. Probably over 500 gold pieces in them"
