Immersive Ink

Soon a young man in short forest green robes & travelling cloak worn over rust colored breeches & a black tunic. His hood is back so not to obscure his vision showing his short blonde hair and goatee, and the ragged scar across the left side of his face under his eye. He is holding his torch in his left hand & his staff in his right. Ho, greetings - I was told others had already started out & if I hurried I might catch up. Lucky for me I didn't encounter any trouble on my way down here. Oh I am Veshengo Polgár, but you can call me Vesh.
Vesh adjusts his pack as he rests a bit after his trek, taking a quick drink from his water skin.

"A wizard, eh?" grunts the dwarf Grampus by way of introduction. "Do you have anything to open a locked door?"

A sly grin crosses Veshengo's face as he replies,"Why yes my fine dwarf - that I am. Hmmm not in my magical repertoire as of yet, though I am looking to add a spell to it, that would do such a task. By the way, what kind of material is this door you need unlocked made of? Also do you know or have a guess how this door is locked? Maybe a bar or a mechanical contraption of some sort? Veshengo peers around the group seeing who he'll be travelling with.

There is a keyhole but no key

A well-armored elf waves his battle-ax at Vesh.

"Welcome, friend! I am Wiglaff, and this is my torchbearer, Edgar."

Edgar waves his torch.

"Blessings upon you, Vesh, and upon us for your advent is most fortunate!" Replies a somewhat portly gentleman in plate mail. "I am Maloof."

Vesh bows his head (as his pack keeps him doing anything more elaborate) "Greetings to you Wiglaff, Maloof & Edgar. I hope that this endeavor will be fruitful for us all.

Vesh wanders over to the locked door to study it more closely in better light of his torch. He lays his staff against the wall after a second. He then begins to the check out the door, looking at its construction, to see what it is made of and what its condition (is it made of wood or metal, if wood is it warping or rotting, if it is metal is it rusted is? Are there any gaps between the door & the frame? Is it elaborately carved or plain? How the lock looks? How is it affixed to the door or is built into it?

I'll assume Gorthaur didn't give you a key to his dungeon & you didn't find it along the way. So has anyone checked for traps? I do not want to mess with the door until that is ascertained - that is all I need a poisoned needle sticking me or acid or poison mist shooting at me. Also does anyone have any skill in lock picking? <muttering to self: I might look into learning such a skill, it seems to be useful in cases like this>.

The door looks like it is made of iron, painted yellow, with chips and dents as if people had tried to break it down before
