The party moves to attack, but the orcs weren't born yesterday. They turn around and in a well-practised maneuver, wedge themselves with spear and shield 4-wide across the corridor. Armed with swinging weapons, only three party members can melee in return in the same space.

The length of the orcs' spears tells this round, and Maloof, Wiglaff and Grampus find themselves beset, while Aldbane and Rhod wait anxiously, both hoping and fearing for their turn. Wiglaff's armor turns onre spear thrust, and Grampus just manages to deflect another with his spear, and then their attacks rain home.

Maloof pulps the head of his orc, while a might swing of Wiglaff's battle axe decapitates another. Grampus just misses, as he ducks his head to avoid being decapitated himself. The adventurers are now inside the reach of the orcs's spears, and press the attack relentlessly. Wiglaff cuts down another, and the last orc throws his spear down in surrender

Wiglaff takes his bloody ax in both hands & approaches the remaining orc.

"Your life is forfeit, foul creature," he grates menacingly in the Orcish tongue, "unless you can prove your worth to us. We seek treasure, and information about these halls!"

Once the orc realizes he is facing an elf, his disdain for the race overcomes his fear of death that caused him to surrender. He gropes for his spear, intending to grab it and spear the elf

The party re-collects its gold, plus 20 more gold that the orcs had been carrying. What will they do about the white medallions?

"Let us keep the medallions, if what the orcs said was true we can use them to get down to the next level." Maloof states.

"Gets us to the next level, aye, or marks us as suckers," says Grampus. He reclaims his 5gp (plus 'a little extra for his trouble') and pins a white medallion to his breastplate.

So, is the consensus that you are going to display the medallions, discard the medallions, or keep them but not wear them?

Wiglaff, suspicious of anything having to do with orcs, will pocket the medallion but will not wear it. He will instruct his torch-bearer Edgar to do the same.
