It is Grampus' turn to open the next door. He votes for the nearest door, which happens to be the south door in this case, but will agree to the north door if outvoted. He follows the standard operating procedure: listen and open if no suspicious noises.

Grampus listens, then tries the door. It opens fairly easily, to reveal a 30' square room with slightly rounded south corners. The floor is flagstones thinly covered by straw.

"Again, with the straw," Rhod mutters.

Does it have in any way a barnlike aroma?

Maloof gets down on his hands and knees in the doorway. He brushes some of the straw near the doorway aside to get a better look at the floor underneath. Are there any strange gaps between the flagstones or anything else unusual?

The few flagstones he sees do seem to be not quite as tightly fitted together as usual

"Pry one up," Rhod says. "Maybe there's something underneath."

He doesn't step onto any of the flagstones until the investigation is complete.

Kythaela says: You might want to tap all the ones that you can reach and see if there is a hollow sound or something else.

Without crossing the threshold, Grampus reaches in with his axe and gently sweeps the straw from a section of floor, so he can get a better look at the flagstones.
