Serech will tie his rope to himself, then to Catweazle and attempt to lower him down the chute.

Preparations are made, and Catweazle is lowered, lantern in hand. He sees he is in a cork-screwing tunnel heading down for who knows how far. How fast does he want to be lowered?

Golguldir encourages those manhandling the rope to lower Catweazil as far as the rope will go...

"Give two quick tugs on the rope if you have trouble," he advises his fellow mage as he's lowered, "and we will haul you back!"

Catweazle is lowered down quickly around a twisting chute, and disappears from sight.

| I will send Catweazle a PM |

All this excitement must have aroused a reply, as up top, the doors to the east open, and you see two griffin-headed humanoid figures , dressed in chain and clutching a sword in their right talon. They chirp shrill bird chirp at you, then attack.

Aldbane quickly moves east to meet the bird-men and attacks with his hammer.

Can we get a quick summary of who is still up top, and how far the bird-heads are from us? Also, how big are the bird-heads?

Up top:
Alkman
Golguldir Ivar
Sigmund
----Francis-----
Serech Aldbane

Serech has a rope tied about his waist, to which Catweazle is attached somewhere down below

The bird men are 10-15 feet away

The heads are maybe twice as large as a human head. They seem to have no neck

Golguldir makes sure he is not at the front, back-peddling if necessary to maintain detachment from any melee that might develop. If the combat appears to be going against us, Golguldir will color spray them.
