Rhod gets out a torch of his own, lighting it off of any nearby torch. He'll keep it in his left hand, for either light or to use against the slime, but keeping his sword in his right hand.

Maloof next checks the ground, is there any evidence of slime or anything unusual on the floor?

No drains or shifting stonework on the ground. No wet or slimy patches on the floor

Maloof is in favour of NOT opening the nearby door (it may be some sort of trap) and instead continuing on south (keeping to the east side of the passage).

All young dwarves learn the nursery rhyme "Don't Touch The Slime." Grampus encourages his friends to burn it somehow (being careful not to come in contact), though he lacks the means to do so himself.

Catweazle busies himself with a torch, his staff, and some twine. Eck! Tche! Burn it, we must, or it will spread. Slime, slime everywhere, melting and eating. Psh!

Catweazle ingeniously reaches the ceiling with his contraption, and starts burning the slime. A ridge along the centre of the corridor lights on fire, and you can see slime start to sizzle. About 30 feet away, a huge clump falls to the floor, while the burning continues on. The clump starts to slowly ooze towards the west door

Golguldir instructs Alkman to put fire to an unstopped oil flask, and lob it directly onto the front of the oozing horror.

Fire and oil descend on the oozing slime and consume it. The corridor south looks safe
