If there's room, Gunther will engage.

If there's not room, Gunther will try to slide around so he can get between Het and Alistair.

Hetwhistle decides to attack Alistair from the rear, Fredrik slides to the side for a flank attack which allows Gunther to step up. Lawrence attacks frontally, and Serech attacks from Alistair's left side. Oldtin pushes through the mercs, hoping to get in on the action next round if an opening appears. Alistair decides that Het and Fredrik are too big attack and attacks them twice each! This makes Serech's attack to be from behind!

Fredrik's attack misses, and then Alistair chops down Fredrik with a deadly blow, cleaving him from shoulder to chest, and nearly crippling Hetwhistle with a wicked attack. The others press their attack, and Serech gives a mighty mace blow from behind.

There is now room for people to rush in on Alistair (up to 6 can attack, and there are currently 4 attacking him). Alistair is currently facing roughly northwest, with Hetwhistle in front of him, Lawrence and Gunther on his shielded side, and Serech behind him. Given your experience so far, he is likely to deal with the flank/rear people next...

Het will yell, Grab him! Take him down!

He charges the fighter and wraps his arms around Alistair's legs, hoping to knock him down.
I think we're dead in a stand-up fight. Better to use our strength in numbers and overpower him.

Golguldir enters the room only as the combat presses away from the entry, instructing Archie and Ackman to form a wall between him and any trouble.

"Stop this foolishness!" he declares so that Alistair might hear. "Surrender now else surely perish!"
Golguldir always remains outside of melee range so he can use a spell if necessary.

Alistair has already taken two hard hits. He can likely take but one more; perhaps two if he is lucky...

| It's taken a 20 and an 18 to hit him. A 15 has missed him. We've been quite lucky to hit him twice so far. |

| Yep plate+shield would make AC2 from the front, 3 from the flank/rear.

So we'd expect the fighters to need 16+ to hit him from the front, or 13+ from the rear. The non-fighters will need 17+ from the front, or 14+ from the rear. If he has magical protection, then we'd need to roll more... |

Occ. if i interpert this correctly if he attacks 4 times each attack is made like a1st level fighter which makes him only marginaly better than us as a group. Yes with better armoir and possibly magic weapons.

Also a 4th level fighter would have a max of 24 hit ints but average would be 16 would would suggest we only need to hit him once or twice more to win.

A 4 HD figure has 4 attacks as a 1 HD type vs normals (so 1 pip worse than a 1st level fighter). He could have 4-24 hp (excluding possible con advantage of 4 hp), but the average should be 3.5 hp per die so 14 hp overall.

Also, we just saw Alistair take a morale check after the first 5 hp hit and the book says morale checks are necessary after one-third losses... so we might speculate that Alistair's starting hp were 15 or less. Pure speculation that last bit :geek: |

| I decided on a morale check because

a - he missed all his attacks (he expected to cut at least one person down)
b - he was getting surrounded

So he had to decide - withdraw, parley after all, or press his luck and trust in his skill and armor |
