Either way works for me.

Fredrik has two throwing hammers, so can possibly throw one before a melee happens.

Alistair is pretty tough. We may want to consider gang-tackling him and finishing him off that way, versus a stand-up fight.

Het (on 2hp!) should go turtle (parry not attack) and get out of the fight; let the next ranks get in and surround him. Hopefully those who attack him from the flank/rear will have a better change to hit...

If Makofan retcons the first round, where I said I wanted to go directly behind Alistair and not pause to attack his flank, I'll be at full hit points.

What is a "retcon"?

A thing to remember--especially for the fighters--is that the rules allow you to "parry" rather than attack if you want to. So if Hetwhistle didn't need to attack and had declared his intent was to "Get past Alistair, dodging/parrying anything that comes at him," then Alistair's attack would have been at -4, so his roll of 15 would have counted 11, which would have missed AC 7 anyway.

On the other side of the screen, if I was Alistair's player I would defiinately want him to occupy the entry into the room precicely so that he couldn't be surrounded by weaklings. There's no reason at all why a hero should let a bunch of mooks get by him, so I think we're going to have to make explicit attempts to get past him, or push him back into the room...

It's a fun set up thou :)

Retcon stands for retroactive continuity.

I told Makofan that Het was circling behind Alistair in order to attack from behind the next round. Instead, he had Het stop and attack once Alistair was flanked.

He said he was going to edit the first round of battle to have Het proceed behind Alistair and have Alistair attack someone else instead. Not sure if he's going to follow through or not.

In any event, if Het moves behind Alistair next round, I don't think he can attack Het unless he turns his back on the rest of the party, so I should be safe. If not, we'll dust off another one of my PCs.

But Hetwhistle is the best Hobbit name I've heard since 1994! :D

I stand corrected on the party's ability to defeat Alistair! Nice work!

...although whether we will manage to secure the first room remains to be seen :D
