Re: [03] The Ziggurat

As soon as the spell is cast, [pc Human,M-U]Sullivus[/pc] will head down into the pit and start killing sleeping cultists.

UNLESS it looks like the one awake cultist is trying to cast a spell or run away, in which case Sullivus will drop his lantern (but not his dagger) and tackle the bad guy.

Re: [03] The Ziggurat

Magnus will descend down one of the stairs that his teammates are not using. If he has to take a longer route that is fine.

Re: [03] The Ziggurat

| Remainder of turn 3.13.1

Still in the surprise turn (in which Urtzil uses his sleep spell) everyone other than Pots, Biratlan and Urtzil hear that something is amiss and pass from the passageway outside, thru through the narrow opening allowed by the rotating door--which is only ajar.

Pots and Biratlan were already inside with Urtzil, so Biratlan moves as hastily as he can toward the nearest stair (to his right), while Potts fires a stone from his sling.

Potts 1d20=7 (+2 50ft range, +3 halfling, +1 dexterity, +2 surprise) hits AC 9 for 1d6=1 hit point. It was only just a hit, so the referee decides it has hit one of the cultists in the circle.

Biratlan's move rate is 9" so he can cover 90ft per move, and still be allowed an attack. The ref determines the shortest route is 100ft, but as melee range is 1" this is just enough for Biratlan to reach the black robe and attack at the end of the turn.

Meanwhile Arcus and Tumbly enter the room and loose their missiles too.
Arcus 1d20=15 (+2 surprise, +1 medium range, +1 dexterity) hits AC9, 1d6=6 damage)
Tumbly 1d20=13 (+2 surprise, +2 short range, +3 halfling) hits AC9, 1d6=3 damage)

The referee then dices for the zealot's hit points: 3d6=5,5,1 that's 11. Less 9 leaves 2, ouch.

The referee checks whether the zealot will drop the scrolls he is holding on two hits: 2d6=4,5 so he doesn't.

At last Biratlan arrives 1d20=15 (+2 surprise) hits AC 9, for 1d6=3 3 hit points damage, slaying him! |

The rest of the company enter the room as [p Man,mail+helm, hand ax,shield,9,8/8]Biratlan[/p] rushes around the mezzanine toward the stair and the dancing throng. Meanwhile, [p Halfling, leather, sling, open hand,9,4/4]Potts[/p] lobs a sling stone at the dancing cultists as [p Man,cloak,cat-stick,open hand,12,5/5]Urtzil[/p] utters his spell, and conks one of them on the shoulder before the stone clatters off into the stone work beyond.

The cultists drop like stones under [p Man,cloak,cat-stick,open hand,12,5/5]Urtzil's[/p] enchantment. "You!" seethes the last standing priest. Then [p Man,mail+helm,spear,shield,9,8/8]Arcus[/p] and [p Halfling,mail+helm,mace,shield,9,7/7]Tumbly[/p]'s missiles pummel him, before [p Man,mail+helm, hand ax,shield,9,8/8]Biratlan[/p] rushes in and deals him the fatal blow with his ax!

| Yes, surprise can be decisive :)

By this point Magnus and Sullivus have reached to tops of opposite stairs and are about to descend and join Biratlan in the chamber below... |

Re: [03] The Ziggurat

| Sorry Dubeers, when you mentioned the shortest route I assumed you wanted to close the gap ASAP. In the end it meant you scored the killing blow with loosing your ax, so no harm done, I hope :| |

Re: [03] The Ziggurat
