OOC: What's the terrain like? Is it tall grass? Are there trees or bushes to hide behind?

Re: [02] Overland in Wet Weather

[p Hired Man,clothes,dagger,torch,12,3/3]Piotr[/p] eyes the fens, and the shadowy structure dubiously. He is not enthused about remaining behind alone, but neither is he enthused about exploring a dangerous mire.

| The referee uses a reaction check to determine how Piotr responds to the opportunity to explore the fens. He'll need a positive reaction to go along, otherwise he will remain behind: 2d6=3. He's certainly not interested in risking his neck in the fens! |

"I'll stay right here Boss," [p Hired Man,clothes,dagger,torch,12,3/3]Piotr[/p] declares, and positions himself as far from the fens as is possible without appearing too cowardly.

The terrain is your classic marshland. The ground is largely flat, wet, and boggy and covered in knee-to-thigh high sedge. There are frequent patches of thicker heath that is up to waist high, and occassinally there stands what remains of a long-dead tree pointing skyward. These are skeletal trucks with a few branches remaining, mostly 2 to 4 times as tall as a man. Here and there are haphazardly scattered patches of slightly higher (and drier) ground, reaching perhaps a man-height in elevation.

Even though the weather is clearer today, there is yet a thin veil of mist throughout the fens, so visibility is limited to a couple of hundred yards, at best.
