The call for hard to starboard is called out by someone, the WaterLadder turns slowly towards the dark Eastern tunnel. The dim lights are left behind and tunnel narrows gently the further you progress. After several hundred feet the tunnel opens into a dry cavern, the WaterLadder has run aground. Before you is a beach in the darkness beyond you can see very small distant lights twinkly merrily......

What now?

"It seems we are destined to find the source of those lights, I still like it not, but let us continue on foot."

"It's good to have my feet back on the ground at least," says Urist. "Let's tie up our raft as best we can, and hope it's still here when we need it again for the return voyage. I am ready to explore by foot for a while."

Rhegaer climbs off the raft once they have it beached and helps secure it as best they can.

Carefully Urist leads the party into the cavern away from the beach. The cavern floor is smooth after a short 30 or 40 feet you find a small strange setting of logs, arranged in a circle, they seem to have small notches 2 inches in width across the face. As you inspect these you here some high pitched piping. Several small lights come quickly towards you. Just before the come with the range of your lantern, they seem to snuff out. Another long high pitch whistle is heard. More lights are coming...

Actions?

Phadian

Quietly Phadian says "Lets back away from these logs and see if we can figure out what these small lights are. Maybe we can cover the lantern to see if whatever it is will come closer."

"It seems the lights are following us, rather than leading us. Yes, put out that lantern and let's see if they get closer," Alrik says.

Phadian

Phadian assures he knows exactly where his tinder set is, extinguishes his lantern, and sets it a bit to his right so he knows where its at. He breathes a heavy sigh and looks intently in the direction of the little lights letting his eyes adjust.
