Lights his lantern.

"I fear a trap, be alert for an attack. I will get our own light going."

Phadian's lantern springs to life dispelling the gathering darkness. The party waits for the impending surprise attack, but after a few minutes it seems as if their fears are off target. The water filled tunnel system is quiet again.....

"Let's be alert," whispers Urist. "I think we should continue on, what do you guys think? Watch out for signs of anything invisible, like unexplained ripples in the water."

"Yes, let's move on," Alrik whispers, keeping an eye out for anything else unusual.

Clutching the lantern in one hand and his holy symbol in the other he says "Agreed"

Tentatively the poles and oars are put back to work and the WaterLadder glides forward. The water laps along the tunnel walls, the lantern light plays amongst the shadows and the soft echoes remind the group that they are deep underground....

Several hundred feet of tunnel glide by, along the way signs of life are noted. There are a few bats, a verity of cave fish and at least on small cave squid which touched the side of the WaterLadder with a curious tentacle before shooting off into the deeper dark waters. Again you here a piccolo like signal and then several other notes in response, or echo? It is hard to know.

Ahead the tunnel splits, one passage heads East and the other heads North. In the Northern Darkness you can once again see faint lights brightening and dimming in same mysterious way.

A choice?

"I suggest we go east, those lights are to the north and I am inclined to be suspicious of that."

"I agree," agrees Urist. "Whatever is causing those lights seems to be aware of our approach by water."

"On the other hand, they may be leading us somewhere - good or bad I cannot say," Alrik says. East is fine with me, in any case.
